FROM MICHIGAN TO CALIFORNIA

Greetings!

My name is Ana Arce, I am an intern with the Wildlife Team at Golden Gate National Recreation Area for the 2021-2022 season. I am excited to work alongside the wildlife team as we will be covering various different projects throughout the year. The project I am most looking forward to is the coyote monitoring project, as carnivores hold a special place in my heart.

To give you a little background about myself, I was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. I worked hard bartending until I earned my degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Michigan in December of 2020. After graduation, I earned a spot with the Mosaics in Science program, to study the cascading effects the reintroduction of wolves had at Isle Royale National Park. Being able to spend three months on an island in the upper peninsula of Michigan changed my life! It not only made me more confident within the field but it also confirmed within me that I was in the correct career for myself.

To end this first blog post I wanted to give you a little bit more about myself; I am a huge David Bowie and Tupac Shakur fan, I have two giant fur-babies names Louis and Dante, and lastly, I am currently working on reading the Lord of the Rings books.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me, and look forward to my future blog posts!
