Hello! My name is Edwin Torres and I am a Rare Plant Monitoring and Management intern at Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). I am so happy that I was selected for this internship and I am excited to learn all that I can about the rare plants found at GGNRA.
I was born and raised in Washington state in a small town called Moses Lake and I recently graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in Geography.
This will be my second internship through Environment for the Americas. This summer I was selected to participate in the Mosaics In Science Internship Program at North Cascades National Park (NOCA) where I worked as a Native Plant Propagation Intern. My time at NOCA was incredible and I learned so much about the park, native plant restoration, and the National Park Service. The Mosaics in Science program was an incredible opportunity to build up my skill set and gain the experience and confidence that I will use during my time at GGNRA. A little more about who I am, prior to college I served in the military. I am a United States Marine Corps Veteran. I love to be outside whenever I can. I love to hike and take photos of the amazing landscapes all around us. While mountain landscapes have my heart I am very excited to be next to the ocean for this internship, as well as to experience and work in an area that has quite a large urban interface, I hope that you enjoyed getting to know me a bit and I look forward to sharing my experience at GGNRA with you!
