11 Jul LEI at Stanislaus National Forest: Introduction Briana Obregon

Hi everyone! My name is Briana Obregon and my pronouns are she/her.
I’m a Law Enforcement Intern through the Resource Assistant Program (RAP) in partnership with the US Forest Service and Environment for the Americas at Stanislaus National Forest.

During my time here I have learned a lot about the agency, forest, and the community. First I just want to say that this forest is beautiful with much to see! I was able to participate in a grow site to clean up trash from the illegal marijuana fields and saw the helicopter in action using a hook to fly trash to the truck. I spoke to the Integral Ecology Research Center (IERC) about their projects on how the illegal marijuana fields negatively impact wildlife and the forest environment.
My partner and I also did an outreach program teaching children and adults about Smokey Bear fire safety rules. Recently I did a dirt bike course which was exciting as well.

I look forward to more hands on experiences, community events, and learning more about what it means to be a US Forest Service Law Enforcement Officer.
