15 Jul Homestead Days!
One of Homestead National Historical Park’s big events of the summer is Homestead Days. During this event, there are live demonstrators and performers that highlight homesteading culture and traditions connected to the homesteading era.

During this event, I had the privilege of helping with sound for the performances on our main stage. Our Friday performances were led by Miss V, a children’s performer, who presented an interactive show with homespun instruments. Miss V is from Wyoming and has her own homestead.
One group that I enjoyed the most was Spirit of Grace, a gospel group with members who are descendants of the black homesteading community in Nicodemus, Kansas.
It is fun to see the community come together and celebrate Homestead Days, and if you are in the Nebraska next summer, I would encourage you to visit for Homestead Days at Homestead National Historical Park as well!
