Introduction: Kira

Hi Everyone,

I’m Kira!  Currently, I am a Recreation Resource Assistant with the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland in Colorado and Wyoming.  My internship program is the Resource Assistant Program, which is jointly coordinated by Environment for the Americas and the US Forest Service.   As my position title suggests, I will be working on recreation-based projects throughout the summer and winter.

Prior to this internship I was a Research Associate at Colorado State University (CSU) working with the Wildfire Risk Management Science Team.  My primary project was mapping snag (dead tree) hazard for wildland firefighitng..  I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability and my Master’s of Science in Forest Science from CSU in 2018 and 2021, respectively.

I love being active outdoors (especially when/where there aren’t many mosquitos) and am super excited and grateful for this opportunity to dabble in any and everything recreation management!

Hopefully, I will have more exciting tales in the next post.

Until next time,

Kira

Forgot my position title, whoopsie! I’m a Recreation Resource Assistant!
