Maya Akkaraju’s Introduction

Hi! My name is Maya, and I’m the wetland and water quality intern at GGNRA for the next year. It’s been great to meet the other interns and GGNRA scientists this week, and I’m super excited to spend the next year learning about the ecology and hydrology in this area!

I recently graduated from UC Berkeley, where I studied molecular environmental biology. I grew up in the Bay Area and have adored the incredible parks here for years, but I’ve never worked in conservation before this so I’m excited to learn a lot about the field and get to know the scientific and conservation aspects of this area. In addition to working with my supervisor and the hydrotechnicians here, I’m looking forward to hopefully working with the other interns as well and seeing the projects everyone is working on.
