02 Dec A Job of Passion
As my RA assignment is wraping up, I’ve come to relization that being in the conservation feild is a job of passion. You truly have to love what you do and have a realistic understand of your own growth. This is not meant to scare anyone away but I believe that it is important to know what someone is signing up for. When it comes to the US Forest Service, the higher the promotion the more desk work you will have to do. If you are someone like me that would rather work outside for the rest of your life, you have to be prepared for a salary of $40,000. Unless you are in fire or work in recuration, desk jobs will always pay more. That works just fine for me, I don’t mind the idea of rent for a majority of my life but that may not work for other people. For those that want a pay that allows for more freedoms, I would suggest thinking about desk work that coincides with your personal career goals. If feild work is where you excel, I would suggest think about working for a university or conservation organizations as they work with the federal government and may allow for better salary for feild research.
