First Month

Time goes by incredibly fast. This is especially true when it is spent doing new things, in a new place, with new people. I can’t believe my first month here in Oregon is over. At this point, I am used to the rain every day and enjoy it. I have seen the Pacific Ocean for the first time! I have also come to love the Douglas fir forest. I also recently got back into birding! I purchased some new binoculars and am ready to expand the number of birds I can identify. All of this is super exciting and I can’t wait to explore more.

As for work, it has been a lot but it’s great. Being a coordinator is different from my previous positions where I was more focused on giving programs. Here I do a lot of the behind-the-scenes work. I help build the relationships that make the programs happen, I organize the material for events and programs, I offer ideas on what could be brought to life and I think about budgets. I will also eventually be giving programs and helping out at events as well as many other things like translating. Being in this position has made me grow a new appreciation for all the work that goes into creating programs and events. I have also enjoyed working closely with the community and building those relationships.

Sunset at Headquarters

I am curious and excited to see what the future of this position holds for me 🙂
