Intro Post – Simon A

Hello everyone, my name is Simon Aceto. I am from Southern California and currently an undergraduate student at California State University Monterey Bay, studying Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Communities. From an early age, my love and fascination for the outdoors and the natural environment has been strong. I have great memories of backpacking throughout the Sierra Nevadas and visiting National Parks in the Southwest of America, with Joshua Tree being my favorite.

With my passion for environmental conservation and stewardship, I cannot think of a better opportunity than the Fish & Feathers program to pursue my career path. The program aligns with my interests and provides me with the skills and knowledge I need to contribute to environmental conservation efforts.

This summer, I will be interning at Rocky Mountain National Park in Grand Lake. It will be my first time at Rocky Mountain NP, and I am excited to experience the alpine weather and take in the park’s breathtaking views. During my internship, my goal is to educate park visitors on sustainable fishing practices and their importance. I believe this is vitally important for our environment and ecosystems, as it can help combat invasive fish species in the Colorado River and prevent the tragedy of the commons, allowing native fish species to thrive.
