Influence of the Park

I cannot believe how fast this summer has gone by, but that just goes to show how much I am enjoying my time at Indiana Dunes National Park. I have loved every minute of working here and that has made the time fly by.

I would like to attribute my enjoyment of this experience to my love for nature, but there are a few other factors. The biggest factor of my wonderful experience here is the staff that I work with, both in and out of the office. Over the past month I have been able to train, work, and spend time with the seasonal staff at Indiana Dunes. Despite being part of a different organization, I felt like I blended right into the little family here. All of the people you see in these photos and so many others are genuinely amazing. Everyone on the staff is supportive and helpful in whatever aspect you could ever need.

Going into this position, I was unsure of what type of work I wanted to do. With the help of staff and program interactions I definitely can see myself working as an Interpretation Ranger. I will definitely take what I have learned here and apply it to my future.

As Jocob Nieto’s supervisor at Indiana Dunes National Park, I do have to say, it’s been more than a pleaser working with him. Jacob has a great work ethic and has become a very important part of the interpretive staff at Indiana Dunes. All the staff including myself as enjoyed getting to know Jake and work alongside him. He has great interpretive skills and a passion for serving the public. All of which fits perfectly with our team. I am looking forward to the rest of the summer with Jake and we are all going to miss him when he leaves.
