23 Aug Meeting up with the team

Leavenworth Adventures
Hello Everyone!
For this blog, I want to tell you about one of my greatest memories so far during this internship. In early July we had our cohort meeting for the MANRRS interns in Leavenworth, WA. It was such a great experience and I had a wonderful time meeting everyone and learning about the work they are doing on their sites. Some of the interns are from other states and it was great hearing about their experience up here in the Pacific Northwest. During our cohort meeting, we attended workshops about grad school, careers in conservation, and public speaking. We also had some fun activities such as learning how to identify birds by going bird-watching early in the mornings and learning how to fly fish. For a lot of the interns, it was our first time doing any of these activities and I had so much fun learning with them. My favorite activity would have to be fly fishing since I am an avid angler, and fly fishing is a field I had not explored. It was interesting seeing how different fly fishing was from traditional fishing, more work definitely goes into fly fishing and it is more hands-on. I will continue to practice my fly fishing skills since it is something I want to master. I created so many new memories and developed new skills that I will take with me as I continue on with my journey, especially all the advice I got. Overall, I had a blast connecting with everyone and seeing how we all have the same passion for wildlife conservation. We only spent a short time together but in that short time I came to learn so much about them and I am so happy to have met them, I am sure they will all do great things. I cannot wait until we meet again and hear more about their projects. I hope they also enjoy the rest of their internship and make the best of it.
