08 Jan December Quilt
December, we had our holiday party, where our executive assistant, Shelly Kelley, presented veteran and forest service employee, James Kerzwick, with a quilt of valor. This unique quilt symbolizes our collective appreciation for the service and sacrifices of military members. This isn’t the only quilt that she and others have made. There is a small group of quilters and employees of the National Forests in NC that have volunteered their free time to sew quilts of valor for the veterans who also work for the NFSNC.
This group has handmade and distributed close to 35 quilts throughout the years. The quilt of valor goes beyond providing warmth; it carries the warmth of gratitude and comfort for past and present military members and their families.
