Hey y’all, it’s Britt Hutchinson coming in hot with another blog. I’ve been conducting field surveys for over a month now and I can officially say I’m so glad I found my calling. I love the outdoors, and this is right up my alley when it comes to field conservation. I’m an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy scouts of the America and just last week I was at a staff development course, and I was asked a question about my job and how I would react if I was a Monarch butterfly myself.

I responded and said I would fly high and fast to continue my journey North of course making stops along the way. I’m an avid traveler and this just came to me without really thinking about the question. This intern position has given me such freedom and a sense of belonging, something I didn’t think I could achieve after leaving the military at the end of February. I’m truly thankful I have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing movement.

I’m finishing my time in Texas, and I have to say it was bittersweet when I finished at Fort Cavazos it was after all my last duty station and my sixth station in total in my 14 years of service. I’m heading down south making another stop at Camp Bullis before continuing my journey North and looking forward to my adventure and hope to encounter more Monarchs, instars, and eggs along the way.
