The One with the “Fake Spring”

Upon conclusion of my 2nd month as a Climate and Sustainability Resource Assistant, life has begun to move pretty fast. April has sprung forth a wide variety of opportunities to learn and grow. These opportunities of growth have mainly been in the form of webinars and trainings catered to the projects I will be focusing on throughout the rest of my internship. The highlight was a 3-day Geographic Information System (GIS) training provided by GTAC in Salt Lake City.

"Fake spring" - A phenomenon where the weather will be amazing for 2 weeks and then go back to winter. A common occurrence in Utah.

Despite dealing with the false hope associated to “fake spring”, as Utahns like to call it, the Forest Service is starting to buzz with the excitement of field season around the corner. Stay tuned for field season adventures to come!
