Mayra’s Introduction at Siuslaw!

Hello! My name is Mayra De La Fuente and this summer I will be a Field Ranger intern at the Siuslaw National Forest on the Oregon coast. This week I was able to complete my training with the amazing staff at Cape Perpetua and prepare for a season full of learning opportunities. I am very excited to learn all about this environment including the plants and animals living here. On my very first day, I even got to spot a whale in the ocean. Feel free to watch my introduction video below and have a look at the following picture which was taken at the end of the Giant Spruce Trail. Fun fact: This Sitka spruce tree is more than 500 years old!
