Ray’s Place

Hello everyone, it’s Britt Hutchinson and I had an amazing opportunity to visit Ray Moranz house in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Ray is from the Xerces society and was an excellent host. Once we arrived, he had coffee and water on his front porch along with brochures and goodies that we were allowed to keep. He also took us on a tour of his amazing property which is very diverse. I also saw swamp and aquatic milkweed for the first time.

After the tour of his property, he took us to the famous Eskimo Joes for lunch and the cheese fries were excellent and I loved the souvenir cup you got to keep after your meal. Later we went to Lake Blackwell and saw more diverse grounds and were able to identify the plants and milkweed species. We wrapped up the day by going up the road and conducting a ROW where we tried to catch an adult monarch butterfly but was unsuccessful and the monarch flew away.
