The Latino Heritage Internship Program (LHIP) seeks to engage young Latino/Latina professionals in natural and cultural resource research and management, interpretation, and public affairs.
Position Description: The internship will focus on the various processes of music and interpretive video production within the Jazz Visitor Center. The intern will learn skills of audio recording through a sound board, video recording with our in-house video system, graphic design in terms of logo creation, and audio and video editing. The intern will need to have the computer capability to edit video footage within Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro (or similar program) as well as edit audio recordings in Logic, Antares, or equivalent program. The intern needs to have at least a base knowledge in these skills and programs in order to be able to teach them more advanced techniques within the limited time. The goal for this internship is to have the intern be able to video and audio record a short concert within our Visitor Center, edit the footage, create 508 compliance for the video (captions and audio description for the impaired), and premiere the video on our various social media and Park websites. The intern will also be creating a portfolio of work throughout the internship to include graphic design, sound recordings, and video shorts that will enhance their resume.
Natural and Physical Work Environment: The Park is within the French Quarter of New Orleans. It is extremely hot and humid in the summer months when the internship will be happening. Their are small grocery stores within the French Quarter. The French Quarter is very tourist heavy and petty crime is always present. Their are Latino communities close at hand and we have a strong relationship with many Latin musicians in the area as they perform regularly within the Park.
Abilities and Skills:
1) Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or similar programs for audio and video editing
2) Knowledge of Video filming
3) Knowledge of Audio recording
4) Graphic Design
Education and Qualifications:
- The intern needs to be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite, have a basic knowledge of sound mixing and recording,
- Have a basic knowledge of video recording,
- and have a computer with enough power and memory to run these very robust programs.
Vehicle and Driver License Requirements: Personal vehicle strongly recommended
