16 Dec Education and Outreach Assistant – Latino Heritage Internship Program
The intern will be developing and delivering interpretation and education programs to diverse audiences. They will be leading onsite and/or virtual 5 day geology and paleontology camps for diverse youth from Colorado Springs. They will be delivering onsite and/or virtual content to Latino youth audiences that was developed by another LHIP intern in 2020. This content is specifically designed to connect Latino audiences to the geology and paleontology of the Monument through hands on activities and the arts.
They will also be conducting 1 day field trips to the Monument and a local state park called, "Fishing, Fossils, y Familia." These trips will target Latino audiences to learn about the ancient Lake and fossils formed at Florissant and then visit a modern lake to go fishing. Lastly, they will be providing interpretive programming to the general public at Florissant Fossil Beds.
