The Resource Assistants Program seeks to engage ethnically and racially diverse young professionals in natural resource careers.

Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.

Project Description: The Resource Assistant (RA) will be responsible for assisting in the development, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the volunteer program in the Wayne National Forest. The ideal candidate should enjoy working with people. The position requires the RA to have excellent written and oral communication skills. The RA will communicate with Forest Service employees on forests as well as volunteers, academic professionals, and community partners. The position requires the RA to be professional, articulate, organized, creative, detailed oriented, and innovative.

Assisting in various outreach efforts with volunteers, planning and leading volunteer events, field safety, and volunteer support – 80%

Drafting communications and representing the forest at outreach events – 10%

Creating content for online audiences – 10%

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (Outdoor Recreation, Natural Resources, Communications). Valid US Drivers license required

*Have personal transportation to the office
